Posting this a bit late but have been a tad busy this weekend. I wanted to try my luck riding with a few guys who were lets say a bit more seasoned riders then I. I found them via the interwebs and through the OZ Bike Club site. They ride every Saturday out west, I psyched myself up and said ok I’m going to ride with them. Lucky for me one of the guys was under a training reg that required him to keep his heart rate down, this meant he pretty much needed to ride with one brake on :-) . I had a lot of fun and got a very good workout. I ran the instamapper pgm and we rode 37 miles @ 17mph avg. I of course was on my tank ( the GT) and as much as I love my bike it just isn’t made for this kind of riding. They were extremely welcoming and didn’t drop me out in the middle of nowhere. We stopped off for breakfast at Gerrards, well they did I had a rueben and it was delicious. While we were there another small group of regulars showed up and joined us. Low and behold out of everyone I met I was most impressed with Wanda.(young 87) I hope I can be half as active at 57 lol. Forgive me I f get the name wrong but I am horrible with names, and understand if you choose to forget mine as well. Heres a few photos of some really nice bikes and the tank of course.

Any ways I had a good time and hope I didn’t slow them down too much and look forward to riding with them again.

  1. Congrats on the ride ~ sounds like you did great. I can’t wait to get my road bike so I can do something even close to that. 17mph? that’s about 5 miles a hour faster than my average speed currently lol.

Yeah I was pretty proud of myself considering my bike is probably over 30lbs and I’m a noob :-) I wouldn’t say I’m sore but I know I was out there with them that day :-)
